Policies & FAQ's

Email thesqueakywheelcreative@gmail.com for more info

How do I register?

  • Sign up for our mailing list or follow us on social media to stay updated on registration opening times.
  • Complete the registration application form as soon as registration opens — spots fill quickly!
  • Wait for your confirmation email - this should arrive within an hour after you submit your registration application (thanks for your patience!). If the class is full you'll be notified and placed on the waitlist.
  • Secure your spot by sending your tuition via e-transfer to thesqueakywheelcreative@gmail.com after receiving your email confirmation.
  • Pick up your class materials at our first class, and get ready to experience the magic of creativity!

Is it ok to bring snacks and toys?

We cannot bring snacks into the Music Together® room, however you are welcome to step outside at any time for snack breaks. Bottles, cups, and breast/chestfeeding in class are always ok!

For the best musical learning experience for all children we ask that toys from home are put away in your bags during Music Together® class. At The Creative Nest and other Squeaky Wheel programs, you are welcome to bring any special toys that will help your child feel comfortable.

What happens if a class is canceled?
If we have to cancel for some unexpected reason, I will email the class participants and call/text everyone who doesn't respond to my email within a short amount of time. When a cancelation occurs, I will do my best to make it up by either adding the missed class on to the end of the semester, rescheduling on another day, and/or offering a pre-recorded class online.

Is it OK for more than one adult to come to class?
All parents, grandparents or caregivers in your child's life are welcome to join parent-participation classes at any time! Notification is appreciated to make sure we have enough room and supplies. Music and art-making with the entire family is incredibly beneficial to your child's development, and attending class is a great way for grownups to continue the creative fun at home.

Can I bring an un-registered sibling or friend?
Older children who are off school and wish to attend are welcome on a space-available basis - feel free to email me to request a spot! Siblings under 5 years old need to be registered, except for infant siblings under 9 months (who are free!).

If friends under 5 years old want to attend but are not registered, trial classes may be available (see trial class policy below).

Cell Phones, Photos, Videos during Music Together® Class

To see the biggest benefit to our kids' musical development we need to model joyful music-making to them in class, and take this brief time to step away from technology. I know it's hard! I'll gently remind you to put cell phones on silent, and ask folks to refrain from texting, taking photos or videos during class.

You are welcome to take pictures before or after class, however please ask other parents before you take or post a picture of them or their children on social media. Let me know if you have any concerns about photographs - your comfort is key!

Talking during Music Together® Class

It’s tricky for young children to tune out adult speaking voices during music-making. It may seem silly, but we can all work together to build a rich musical environment by 'turning on our singing voices' during class and avoiding talking. It's rare that kids get this kind of musical immersion, and our active participation (regardless of what we think about our musical ability) is the key to children learning and growing musically! But after class let's have a gab!

Music Together® Instruments and Storybooks

Instruments like the ones we use in our Music Together class, and Singalong Storybooks are available for purchase directly from Music Together LLC's Store:  http://musictogether.com/Store

Refunds & Credits

Tuition is due once your registration confirmation email is received, in order to reserve your spot and ensure class materials are ready for you. Payment plans can absolutely be arranged, just reach out and we’ll find what works best for your family.

Tuition for Music Together® classes includes a non-refundable $20 registration fee.
After the first day of class, tuition becomes non-refundable. If you need to withdraw before the first day, you’ll receive a credit toward a future semester. Partial credits may be offered after the first class only in exceptional circumstances.

Waitlist Policy

Once a class fills, a waitlist will open for that semester. (You can also join our mailing list or follow us on social media to stay updated when registration opens!) Families must request a new waitlist spot each semester, and placement is determined by the order requests are received.

If a spot opens up, I’ll reach out by email. You’ll have 48 hours to claim this spot before I move to the next family on the list. After that, registration becomes first-come-first-serve.

Waitlisted families who don’t get in to the semester of their choice will receive priority enrolment next semester and will be notified when that early registration period begins.

Make-Up Classes

If you miss a class, you’re welcome to attend a make-up on a space-available basis — just send me a quick email or text to request a spot.

If I have to cancel a class, I’ll always do my best to offer a make-up class (usually near the end of the semester). If that’s not possible, I’ll provide a pre-recorded class video or a refund for the missed class portion.

Class Cancellations

If a class needs to be canceled due to weather, illness, or other unforeseen circumstances, I’ll provide a make-up option — either in-person or online (pre-recorded). If none of those options work out, you’ll receive a refund for the missed class.

Illness Policy

Please help us keep everyone healthy! If you or your child are feeling unwell, have a fever, or show signs of a contagious illness, please stay home and use one of our make-up options instead. Wait until your child has been fever-free for at least 24 hours (without medication) before returning to class. Please also wash or sanitize your hands (and your child’s hands) before and after class — it makes a big difference.

We have a no-symptom policy to help protect our most vulnerable community members. Thank you for understanding!

COVID-19 Policy

We’re committed to caring for one another and keeping our community safe, especially for those with health vulnerabilities.

Masks:
Masks are optional in all classes. However, we may adjust this policy if local health recommendations change. (Refunds will not be issued due to policy changes.)

If You Test Positive or Have an Exposure:
If you or your child test positive for COVID-19 or another contagious illness, please let me know right away.

  • If positive, please stay home for 10 days from symptom onset or your test date, and remain masked until day 14 (or until you have a negative test).
  • If you’ve had a close contact exposure, please wait 3 days and take a test before returning, or stay home for 5 full days if you choose not to test.

These guidelines help us continue to sing, move, and play safely together!
